On either side of the shield, a fasces palewise combined with tridents Or.

Symbolism

SHIELD

Red, blue and white are the colors traditionally associated with the Coast Guard. The wavy bars of the shields background are traditional heraldic representations of water or waves. The red chief is emblematic of fortitude and valor. The four stars refer to the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Program. The dolphin and its posture is indicative of Coast Guard dive operations.


CREST

The crossed swords signify the tactical operations while the flaming shell honors the weapons and ordnance division. The compass rose conveys direction, guidance and scope provided to the Deployable Specialized Forces.


MOTTO

INNOVATE TO PREVAIL.


SUPPORTERS

The tridents combined with the fasces allude to environmental contingency responses and are in tribute to the National Strike Force.


SEAL

The coat of arms as blazoned in full color on a white disc, edged gold, enclosed by a dark blue border edged on the outside with a gold rope and inscribed OFFICE OF SPECIALIZED CAPABILITIES above and U.S. COAST GUARD below between a pair of discs, all white.
